Chatcake is a people search engine website based on personality research. Our job is to help you find people you might enjoy being friends with.

This is your start page. You will use it to search people by personality. When you create a free personal profile, you become instantly registered in the personality database. Every time you are "found" from chatcake start page by someone else, you are notified of who you were found by and what they typed in the search box to find you.

You may view the entire site in either black or white (default) theme. To change the site theme select it from the drop down menu located below this message.

You may also search google from your chatcake start page. Click on the "google" radio button below the search query box to switch to google search. The google results page background will mimic chatcake's site theme.

Our custom google search engine is optimized to search community sites such as myspace, xanga, stumbleupon and others.

Your site activity is reflected by your profile rank. Profile rank ranges from 0 to 50. When you use the site your profile rank slowly increases. Profile rank is also an indicator of user authenticity.

Most of the site can be navigated by using the Go To, Edit, and Favorites drop-down menus located on top of almost every page. The menu is not displayed on this page to keep your start page simple.

You can use CSS code to modify appearance of your profile.

Despite the small number of members on the site, Chatcake is not a new website. This is because the site was never advertised and user base expansion occurs through word-of-mouth. However, this allows space for a small, friendly community of authentic users.

Every profile is assigned a list of personality keywords. However some recently created profiles may not contain these keywords at all.

It's a good idea to invite friends to Chatcake and ask them to describe you. This builds a stronger identity and increases the chance of other people finding you by personality using our search.

When you create an account, you only have 1 friend on your "friends list". This is the main chatcake profile owned by the creator of this site. Feel free to ask questions about the site by sending a message or a profile comment to chatcake.

Personality keywords that are attached to your profile are developed over a period of of time and may change throughout existence of your account. We call this "identity building".

Your Chatcake "friends list" contains people who agreed to be your friend by accepting your friend request. You can send friend requests to anyone on the site.

Your friends list is a casual agreement between you and the users on the list to be each others' friend. However, this doesn't always validate all people on your friends list as people you actually interact with. This is why there is a second list called "My Relationships". This list automatically keeps track of who you interact with the most and puts the most important friends on top. If you disagree with chatcake, you may add a star to anyone on your Relationships List to increase their rank manually.

When you're viewing someone's profile you can add them to your favorites. In the upper right corner there is a question that asks you whether you like that user or not. By clicking "Yes" their username is added to your favorites list. Your favorites drop down list is initially empty and can be accessed on the main menu on top of the page.
