Myspace layouts are blocks of CSS Script code that people insert into their profiles to decorate them. The word layout here is misleading because after "applying" what's known as the layout code to a myspace profile the actual HTML structure of the profile layout remains intact. Layouts only modify the colors, fonts and border styles of your myspace profile. People look for layouts to differentiate their profile from the default myspace profile layout and make their profile look unique or match their personality. While there are ways to change the actual position and style of different blocks of information (such as "about me" or the "interests" blocks) it is not a common way of modifying a myspace profile layout. When using the word layout in reference to a myspace profile, it usually refers to a block of CSS script code that modifies the font, table borders and background image of the profile page.

Many layout editors do not have an adequate interface for the average myspace user and because there are no quick self-explanatory links that lead to a myspace editor from within the myspace account page itself most people go to google or yahoo to search for layout editor sites. Due to popularity of myspace there is now a whole group of websites that can be categorized as myspace add-on sites that publish profile layout codes, graphics, music and video html/css codes and so on. We tried to find reasonable layouts by searching the web, however we haven't found anything that is easy to use. The main purpose of these myspace add-on sites is to make an income on ads that the owners of these sites post on the pages of their site. Because of this, sometimes, to a less computer-inclined person, it is unclear how to use profile layouts or copy the layout code into their profiles.

This effect is achieved with what's known as CSS Script. CSS script is used in combination with HTML (especially for tables, colors, fonts and border styles) by professional website designers to modify the appearance and general design of websites.
